Not one of my postings are science done by me. Ya'll taxpayers paid for the research into how Sarah Palin dropped the ball in Alaska and took dirty money from kARL rOVE.

What is done by me is filter out all the chasing of one's tail. From all over the internet, my Navy Aviation Electronics Science technician training let me wade through the blue smoke and mirrors. The dogs were sent after me and got rock salted by my daddy's shotgun. Russ Heartman taught me to use a shotgun shell loader.

If there is any way you could get to our Network of Spiritual Progressives conference in D.C. June 11-14, it would really be important for me for you to be there.

If money is the problem, we could lower your registration fee to whatever you could afford (even to zero if that was the determining factor-though of course we badly need the registration fees to offset the costs, and we can't afford to pay for your transportation or hotel the way groups like AIPAC do to get their large numbers at their conferences).
And of course, if you can only come for part of the conference, that's fine too (Friday and Saturday are the most important days, though Sunday is the day we demonstrate at the White House and get to hear from the most significant progressive Evangelical thinker in the US-Rev. Brian McLaren).

As you know, we are planning to launch at our conference the ESRA-- Environmental and Social Responsibility Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which would not only overturn the Supreme Court's disgusting pro-corporate "Citizens United" decision that eliminates restraints on corporate spending during elections (and hence will move the country even further to the right), but also our ESRA will forbid most private funding and require only public funding for Congress and the presidency, and will require corporate environmental and social responsibility beyond anything currently contemplated by either Congress or many of the tame environmental organizations, (To read the current draft of the ESRA, paste this into your web search: www.spiritualprogressives.org/article.php/20100427162647109 and you'll find our latest, but not final, version).

A MANHATTAN federal judge has ruled that a group of New York Army veterans who fell ill after inhaling depleted uranium dust from exploded U.S. shells can sue the federal government - but only for medical malpractice after their discharge.
A 1950 Supreme Court decision - commonly known as the Feres Doctrine - has long prohibited suits against the federal government by soldiers, U.S. District Judge John Koeltl ruled last week. "To the extent that the injuries asserted in the plaintiffs' complaint arise out of their military service . . . the court is without jurisdiction to hear those claims," Koeltl stated in his 29-page opinion.
George Zelma, the plaintiffs' lead lawyer, had argued during a Sept. 6 hearing that despite the broad prohibition of the Feres Doctrine, Congress had never intended "our government to betray its own troops." Koeltl rejected Zelma's argument, but he did allow the eight former National Guardsmen to sue the government for medical malpractice they allege was committed by Veterans Administration doctors after they were discharged back into civilian life.
